This four-storey family home in Clapham, including a newly added loft level, was reimagined through a carefully considered extension that strengthens the relationship between the original house and its new interventions.

Rather than creating contrast for its own sake, the project focuses on continuity — where space, light and proportion are resolved with restraint and clarity. Designed for a couple working in finance and law, the house was envisioned as a calm and generous environment for family life and for their two children to grow into.

Rooflights draw natural light deep into the interior, while large sliding doors dissolve the boundary between the garden and the kitchen-dining space, allowing everyday living to extend naturally outdoors.

The material palette remains intentionally minimal: soft grey flooring, white volumes and black-framed openings create a quiet architectural backdrop that feels bright, composed and timeless.

More than simply enlarging the house, the project rethinks the experience of living within it — bringing greater openness, light and connection to daily family life.
